Basically it's a ballet anime about a duck who becomes a princess to save a prince. But with a shitload of tweeeeeests!
The story is beautiful and well thought. It would seem like a little girls' anime at first glance, Most battles are ballet, but there is real fighting and blood too as the story gets darker. People who liked Madoka liked this one, and even people who disliked madoka (me) liked this one. Trust me, you wont regret watching Princess Tutu.
Also, the opening song is so nice...

To be honest, I watched the first episode with my friend and eternity ago and thought "this is the dumbest piece of crap i have ever seen. the voices are horrible, the name sucks, and a DUCK? Really!?" But now I just finished watching all 26 episodes in one and a half days and it has leaped up into the one of the top spots for my most faved animes of all time. The music is STUNNING, the concept is BEAUTIFUL, and the anime as a whole is just AMAZING. O-O I shall never judge an anime by the first episode ever again.........
