You watch the anime until you decide to shove those fillers up someones arse, then go to read the manga. You still get to wait a week for next chapter/episode anyways. And evangelionized? Sure looks like it, but if anyone dies.... That would be a choice between Sasuke, Sakura or Kakashi. Sasuke dying giving his life for the people would sure be a weird plot twist, but could work. Naruto would be put in the same situation as a certain someone, without naming anyone. Also, the manga creators constant return to TnJ (Talk no Jutsu) and dumb luck is probably gonna sort this out ;P

Read the manga, and you will find out that alot of what you mentioned isnt even fillers. Having read the manga, and occasionally watch the anime to the latest episode i know the differences instantly. Your view on what is filler and the meaning of plot in these animes/mangas seems to be a tad flawed ;P

Standalone animes dont have "fillers" in the same sense. Since almost anything could be part of it, since it isnt based on anything. It IS the original content. But if the anime is following the manga they add fillers to keep getting paid while they wait for more money, and for the main story to progress abit before they keep going etc. etc. Fillers are just that. Fillers.

And let me tell you, as soon as someone adds opinions or critiscism, fanbois and fangurls go into full defensive-turtle mode ;P And says "U mad u haterz? U cannu appreciate this cuz u have n0 heart!" etc etc yadda yadda. Who is hating? I have an opinion, and follow fact. Let's hit up the word filler in a dictionary. I get these. Something added to fill a space. Filler is something that is used to fill gaps. Then just LOADS of various disambiguations. But I think we can accept that fillers is something to fill an empty space of sorts.

And, as said, I have to wait for the next part anyways wether its anime or manga, so I'd rather read the manga so I only get what I asked for. The content created by the original artist, and not extra "arcs" that isnt canon imagined up by some companies workgroup. <.<

Lastly, but not least, wether a story is linear or not isnt usually the utmost deciding factor if something is good or not
