That because I constantly go back and forth between making references to all kinds of random things, sayings, jokes, philosophies and the like, and saying things that are original to me, it confuses people and they have a very hard time distinguishing the two instances.
Most people seem to learn to just assume I'm referencing something else, which is why I at one time found myself in this conversation often enough:
Other person: "What's that from?" Me: "Me. Just now."
