Looks like a hint is required. Does it actually turn metal into liquid form or is it just a play on words?

My first gues is: Any highly corrosive acid.
Acids as any other materials have their boiling and melting OR freezing points. ALL of them! Seems logical but many people forget it.

(on pic acetic acid which freezes in temperature below 15 C degree.)
For example royal water has highly corrosive propperities, it can easily melt almost any metal, even stainless steel and it can be frozen in temperatures lower than -42 C degree.
So supposedly if you put such acid ice cube on a metal surface and temperature around is higher than -42 C - cube will start to melt AND metal surface will start to melt along with it.
Actualy from what I know even some frozen acids are still corrosive, but honestly I don't know any examples. I'm not very good with chemistry.

My second guess would be: Plasma.
I wouldn't call it really an ice-looking but there are some simillarities.

It's not really a thing but an fourth state of matter. Ionized gases turn into plasma, most stars are made out of it, also lightning is a form of plasma. Gas heated to extreme temperatures can get ionized and thus turns into plasma - in such state it can easily melt any known to humans metal.
That's my first guess.

was thinking something like that too, but would it really be riddle material?

Maybe its it doesn't look like an ice cube or icicle. Maybe it looks like "ice". Like mice or nice.
