They give people like anita and zoe way too much attention. There are people with every kind of dream out there. some want all of the world to be muslim, some want all of the world to be white, and some want all of the world to be women.
Personally I think there should just be a country somewhere where feminists like them can live. There should be a place for everything, so that us rest don't have to deal with it.

My point is, they're just extremists, and the world is full of extremists.

^This.

And their report was so full of citation errors that it was withdrawn from the UN webpage, lol.

So long as it doesn't negatively affect my rights or the society in which I am a part of, I'm okay with others having opinions.

The obvious problem here is that while even though they are extremists in a similar light to radicalized extremists, they receive far too much clout with mainstream institutions. Its not like Isis can just go up and have a sit in with google or the UN and rationalize their point of view while being taken even remotely seriously. These people on the other hand can and have done that and have the added backing of somewhat normal everyday people.

They take for granted the rights bestowed upon to them by western culture and in the process attempt to deny the rights of others. Why do they "deserve" a place for their personal views when they don't even have respect for the culture not only granted them free expression but the very culture that lead to liberation of their gender. If you give these people an inch they will surely take a mile; and it is not just inconvenience of dealing with these people, its the societal impact down the road which is the problem. These people are fundamentally opposed to the individual rights which modern societies are built upon, and they will erode that culture whether intentionally or not.

I normally try not to pay any mind to these things however I do worry about censorship in general and especially censorship on the web.

All the videos posted here are made by neckbeards.

"Feminism cannot win on an equal playing field."

Are you shitting me? Fuck, make a point that doesn't sound like you haven't had a girlfriend in 10 years. They should be criticizing the U.N., but they all seem to get sidetracked with ragging on fucking faux-feminists. I'd watch them, because there seem to be some interesting points to be made, but it's like walking into a car dealership with the constant backtracking and trying to sell you something you don't care about. Except instead of trying to sell you a shiny new sports car, every other thing they say is about how the jews did 9/11.

I don't know about the other guy that was posted here because I don't watch him but Thunderfoot, the guy I posted, discusses a wide range of subjects. Unfortunately feminism has become a hot button issue recently and therefore talking about it increases view-count; I definitely will concede to that. Personally I was under the impression that, yes, the concerns regarding (this particular incarnation of) feminism were blown out of proportion and have since taken a leave from the majority of what used to be interesting discussion on youtube.

However, when I saw this video and found that they were able to get an audience not only with the UN but also with google, I was surprised. The thought that somehow these people could influence law and regulation of the internet is definitely one that concerns me.

I'm well aware that there are "angry basement dweller" types in this world, however I don't think the source of information should detract from its validity if I can extract factual information and analyze it accordingly. You seem to be heavily polarized against these sort of people for whatever reason and therefore you're not able to speak your opinions with a level head. All you're doing is making your "position" seem ill informed and unreasonable.

I'll get my information from a different source that I can believe is unbiased, because by pandering to those hot-button issues over the real problem, I believe they lose their validity to me. I'm just ragging on them, justifiably.

When you word it that way, it actually makes pretty good sense. I concede to your point. What sources of information do you refer to on these sort of issues?

I don't have a go-to source for analysis of U.N. decisions, at least as the primary feature of that piece. I could look, but trusted sites are few and far between. I can tell you what sites NOT to go to, if you want unbiased journalism, but it's not much of a comprehensive list I'm afraid.

Maybe I'll look into it after the weekend. Stressing over assignments and such.
