Re: Dogs will be dogs. There are frogs that are nearly identical that cannot breed with each other. Why? Because one group breeds at night and the other during the day exclusively. Thus, they will never be able to mate with each other. That makes them a different species as a result of different behaviour (which may or may not be the result of genetic code changes, it actually doesn't matter though). Over time, those species may or may not grow further and further apart, as each species' population gains different mutations that are not mixed in with the mutations from the other group, thus different sets of mutations arise and snowball. You may eventually see them as very different on the genetic level so that they wouldn't be compatible even if they did mate at the same time of day, but that doesn't matter, they already cannot mate because of that one difference.
On a more genetic level, differences leading to incompatibility for sexual reproduction have been observed in certain earth worm populations that came from the same root population.

I'm positive if you take some frog jizz from the day time frog and inject it onto fertile eggs in a female of the night time frogs you'd have success.
