Post Random Question
I don't know why I decided to post this on this forum, but who cares, am I right? Now let's get into the topic:
How much do you think will it cost to build a decent computer good enough to play high-end games such as battlefield on the best quality?

I think it would be at least $1000 if you find good prices and discounts. But I don't know anything about building PCs, so I want your guys' opinion on this.
Again, don't ask me why I posted this here, I just want to see everyone's opinions.

Go with 2000$ as a budget if you want a high end computer and not just a pretty casing.

Post Re: Random Question
Depends on where you live actually, and whether you want to try to be able to play the NEXT high end game on full settings, and weather high settings to you includes 4K resolution (do you have a 4K monitor?) and such.

If you live in the U.S. though, and if your plan is just for a gaming PC, you might be able to do it for something near $1,000 right now or in a few months.

That is also if you are able to build it yourself from parts.

Here's an example, that makes a few assumptions about you already having other external things or not needing some things. You might be able to go cheaper on some parts, might need to boost others up, but as a very quickly thrown together example, it's something to start with before looking up benchmarks and tests and such:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

A more thought out build can be found here though http://pcpartpicker.com/guide/d3BD4D/great-gaming-build
And they note being able to play Battlefield 4 on Ultra at 60fps at 1080p without any problem, and being able to do well at 1440p for many games as well. That's, again just north of $1,000.

With both these builds, it's typically possible to find better combo deals on the motherboard and processor, or better processors, around if you keep looking or wait for a sale. Microcenter is really good on those prices if you have one around you.

Thanks for the assistance guys, I am fairly new to building computers (by fairly new, I mean I never built one before). Let's just hope that I can make my computer soon enough, but I think probably not until beginning of next year. Or I can just screw it and build off of the pc I have right now.

Damn, that must suck. That's why you check parts as you buy them or when they arrive to your house (if it is delivered).

What motherboard? I can't think of any company that won't allow you to RMA that kind of problem and send you a new one.

jakehead20, if you won't be able to do it till sometime next year, that will probably be good for you. By then, the Zen processors will be out, which will either be a huge step forward for lower cost processors that deliver well (if their price trend continues, but they haven't announced prices yet) or if nothing else may help drive down the cost of some older parts (if not the processors themselves, the motherboards and such).

this motherboard https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Enthuastic-Z ... A+LGA+1151 and i never bothered to RMA it because i expect they'll claim it was "user error when installing the processor" and it's not like i can prove otherwise

MSI I hear is pretty good on that stuff. Don't be so cynical and just try to RMA. I've RMAed several motherboards with worse companies over the years, usually they don't ask questions as long as it can be shown you put in the RMA within the proper time period and it really doesn't work now due to something mechanical (rather than, for instance, you don't have power). It's not as big of a hit for them since they'll have you send it in and they'll probably refurbish it and sell it again anyway.

Post Re: Random Question
nowadays different AAA game companies cooperate with certain GPU developers. Games that run perfectly with nvidia may be shit on other cards with the same traditionally measured performance. The reason behind this is because of the limitations in memory transfer speed even in caches and video memory, so no matter how fast your card is, the memory will still slow you down, and so, by working together with the hardware developers, the software developers can utilize certain shortcuts that will only work for those cards, gaining additional performance. The different cards also provide different features, since they're built differently. The base features are all there, but some cards do some shit better than others.
