:REESE
Discord just went kaboom.

If you want access to another chat service, post here.

It's probably temporary. Even online games go thru maintenance once in a while. It's not a permanent blackout.

irc is always an ancient, but potentially open alternative. Idling probably required. However, I think I need to figure out a irc client that works for me. Browser or software style? Maybe the irc's own client build. As for bots, that's more of a persistent machine for it.

And yes, some chat that allows forkheads context/content. I'll get back to you later... or something like that.

Should I chat up my project progress? Inquiries?

freenode.net
esper.net (not too crowded)
rizon.net
Reputation? Sounds very irc? nvm it is. just olde irc server. we looking for not too crowded irc servers, well, nvm.

https://chat.stackoverflow.com/
Sounds a bit less insane in terms of interface. Is its own chat server + client. user registration required.

IRCCloud
A (cloud/server-based) irc client that said to hold all private and public messages if you are offline from the irc server. That's good to know. Not too free though as you do dc and are limited to a few simultaneous networks. Again, user registration required. I am not sure if irc messages are meant to be held. It's like you have to idle there, like a lounge, you know?
V
IRC bouncer service, we might need this. I am not sure for smartphone machines. Actually, maybe, by standard, you still need a 24/7 machine to monitor logs still? I once had an acquaintance that used to host his own file Apache server. I did one too, but I rather not leave the mach on. Hear the roaring, here the buzzing, bitches. Why not the irc server? Hence, the IRCCloud. Forget the BNC then, whatevers. thelounge too is a BNC. Not mentioned in the wiki though.

And then there's TeamSpeak. I can't help on what constitutes as a server connection, but a channel will do. Maybe too overrated.

Where to idle? I say in general, irc.esper.net works well enough. NVM, LISTING FOR CHANNELS IS BROKEN NOW. IT'S TIME FOR MOVE ONTO ANOTHER SERVER! However, I think for the matter of content of this website, irc.rizon.net would hit the manga/anime content service quite well.

Also, I think there's some dating/casino adbot going in the site chatbox so watch out.

I will investigate irccloud as a limited, but large enough chat history archive service. kiwiirc is the common client, but mibbit works too if you don't mind ads. However, I do have a simple customizable irc client. It's called the pjirc and I can edit interface, data, and stuff like that! :D
I'm going to get cracking along with the necessary java files (it's been fucking long, huh). As far as I know, only a few browsers have access to java support for some reason...

---

I'm sure that discord is backup, but will leave the alternative research lying around. Need to do some updates, backups of support files, etc...

I have to do it myself, thanks Clippy.

Well, I done it, the stupid client is done, showcasing connecting to the irc server. As it being a client alone, download is required; don't worry, they are like a local website. No real executables here. It should activate with the proper java and browser support.

If someone gives a fit, hey, blame the corps for rejecting java in the first place.

Just bundled in the basic tools so you can get the shit running. IE is the safest version. JRE is another story, but you don't have to do much in terms of certification check.

Okay, so the admins of the irc server can issue a bot so it helps with a lack of visitors. I don't know who be managing the bot to access logs?

I doubt irc bots can do that, so I am looking @ the irccloud alternative as well. As of now, I am recovering from the redevelopment of the thing. Will get back to you.

Oh yeah, I'm sure the discord is back up, but the topic spurred on my irc interests. It doesn't hurt to have a backup plan at least.

Hmm, evidence that we need to become more and more sustainable, and start relying on ourselves for content storage and backups, and services.

I know it takes actually going through with the long talked about redesigning of everything on the website that isn't the forums, but it's becoming more worth it all the time.
