Well it seems to be more popular than starcraft or diablo 2 so I don't see why not.

:P that was the joke behind my quote.

And just for the record, WC III isn't more popular than SC. This is not my opinion. People actually make livings playing SC. America has the NFL channel, other countries have the SC channel. Hell, when SC II was announced, it was a national holiday in Korea complete with massive festivals and concerts.

Personally I fucking hate Blizzard, used to like'em back in the days of WC II, SC, and hell, I'll even say WC III (god knows I've played my share of DotA). However now it is a company that is CONSUMED by unquenchable greed. They're basically drug-dealers. But this is a rant for another time in another topic perhaps. Lest you're truly interested in my thoughts on just why Blizzard is an evil company run by satan himself.

Well when speaking of popularity I mean the west, without including europe and asia, since all koreans zerg rush you from the age of 3.

But regular starcraft games are still hard to find due to lag, leavers and overall absence of the crowd to play in u.s. or canada. Yes there are ranked leagues which are pretty popular but all the pub games will either put you to sleep or make you cry in seconds.

And my argument as to why it's still "more popular" than WC III is something you and I (jokingly at least) stated: no one actually plays WC III, it's nothing but DotA. Basically the way I see it is DotA is to WC III as Counter Strike is to Half Life.

I'd imagine the majority of the people on this forum are gamers, or at least quasi-gamers. But I suppose to a female that might seem humorous.
