The second I double click it it's on my screen. What a tiny program. Why is the plugin so bloatey but the thing that's used to create flash content is so compact it opens up as fast as notepad? What gives? |

A flash is compiled into a midstage code. This midstage code is compressed and made easy to read so that the flash plugin can interpreter and execute it, this gives it a nice and fast start, however since it has to be interpreted every run, its runtime is slower than if it had been compiled to binary from the start. There are several reasons why it's interpreted instead of compiled but this long list would surely leave every viewer saying TL;DR |
