The Goal: Create a tool for displaying interesting images utilizing Osbourne’s Creative Checklist. The Implementation: To automate this process, we will create a word generator. The generator relies on broad categories that contain contextual keywords. We will be using keywords to modify words to give interesting results. The more important keywords will be based on visual cues. Examples: Categories: Astronomy + Meteorology
Phases: Phase 1: Compile a list of Categories We are coming up with a list of broad categories that will describe the contextual keywords. I have already created a sizable list on my own, however if you have suggestions or refinements, please do comment. Phase 2: Compile a list of Words for each category The steps of phase 2 will be divided into 3 parts. The first part is to search google for sites that contain a long list of words that relate to that category. The second part will be to take those lists and filter out duplicates and bad results. (Two or more words, repeated words, words that probably wont produce any results). The third part will be to go through any of the categories for which you could not find lists, and the ones that you did find lists that you filtered, and fill in the blanks. Phase 3: Build Core Functionality The project will be built in Full Stack Javascript. nodejs, javscript, mongodb The front end will connect to a database or json files and use code to generate a random list of words. The word it comes up with will be used to query various image search engines. This will be performed by https://www.npmjs.com/package/images-scraper. The head of the page will show the two categories and the words generated. The results will be displayed to the user with a way to start over. There will be three modes.
I'm Feeling Lucky: Picks two categories at random, random word combination, generate images. SUPER RANDOM: Picks 5 sets two random categories, random word combination for each, generate images, mixed random results. Phase 4: Extra Features - Ability to regenerate from the same picked categories after initial results are displayed. - Ability to save results that you like. - By Result Keyword - By Image - Share to social media - Remove results you don’t like Summary: Word generator used to display unique results based on the words generated. Generator gives you a list of categories to choose from. You select two of those categories. When you hit generate, it takes one random word from each of the two categories. The word combination is then used as a search term for google images. In general, the keywords you find may not seem to evoke some aesthetic modulation. However, when generating this list, it might be helpful to keep in mind that the keywords that you are searching should signify some aesthetic change. What's in it for you?:
I will pay for FH hosting for a year at any host. More Dev projects like this to come if you enjoy them. You can use this tool to explore interesting pictures you never would have seen in a simple format. Think of it as a Internet Museum |

They all need work really. I haven't gotten a list done for any one of them. The list doesn't need to be exhaustive but it does need to be complete. Here's an example: Bad Colors: Red Blue Green Purple Black White Yellow Pink Good Colors: http://cloford.com/resources/colours/500col.htm That's a good example of a complete list Sans the numbered results, because they are duplicates and sans the two word named colors that contain duplicates, ie Blue Navy Blue What is most important now is a list of sites like the previous link that contain a list of keywords for each category that we can process for the 2nd step of phase I would just make sure that people who are helping, post what category they're working on so others can pick another one. |

Then, I'll take Chemical Processes - Oxidation, Incinerate, Freeze Micro-biology - Nucleus, Amoeba Science Fiction | Futurism - Nanotech, Replicant, Biotech, Android to start off. Do I post links to pics here, or are generic google/ddg search strings good enough? Also, do gifs count? |

Just links to lists are fine for now I'm not sure how gifs would help. We're not looking for images. That's what the program is supposed to do for us when its done. |
