Monorail. This has already been invented.
how would it get across the ocean? this is part of Shit 0n3.
Underground tunnels or ocean surface multi-wave drifting.
then it's a subway or train. but we must show how it can cross the ocean. I too thought a sea train might be the best option, but gettng it to work is more than just saying it, I don't think tunnels are a good idea (the ocean gets pretty deep and the pressure would be unberable and there's fucking big things that could crash into the tunnel and cause a disasterous flood. then theres earthquakes, same effect.
for ocean surface travel in theory it'd be faster if it had a rail because it would have a solid thing to help it fight the waves (kinda like holding onto the side of the pool when you're tired after you've been drowned by bullies.
) the problem there is how do we do the track? if it's elevated and solid then we run a risk of the same problems of a tunnel, cracking and breaks in the track. if it bends with the ocean current that could feasibly work but would have to sit beneath the waves enough to avoid ships. it would also need sort of like a rollercoaster track where the train grabs hold of top and bottom, and would need more grip than just smooth metal wheels, might need a carbon coating or slight gearing. then there's pests to worry about, we all know shit's gonna try to grow on the track and that could cause accidents including stuck trains whiplash and even derailing.
one could use the rail as a mere guide system where the wheels don't actually clamp on fully all the time, and use sort of like a paddle wheel system or turbines on the wheels.
it could work as a train, but we'd also need to figure out the materials of the track, metal is costly and tends to eventually decay under sea creature pressure. I say plastic is the best bet. but it's not very strong, but it is rubbery and will bend with the current and deflect large obstacles. the train would also have to be sealed like a fucking submarine because it'd probably be about 10 meters below the waves most of the time.
