The thing that you need to center on is reducing the high temperature of the Xbox. When it's hot, it's not going to run as fast. Make sure there is room behind the Xbox for the vents to help keep it cool. Never put it on your carpet. Additionally consider using a fan or cooling pad of some sort. This helps decrease the temperature of the hardware. Just make sure it's not pulling power from the Xbox as this is known to ruin the units.

You might have to pay to upgrade your internet connection if you need a faster speed. At times it's slow because the connection is slow. Buy a better router that is known to be more compatible with your Xbox. At times there are certain brands that just don't work as well as others.
