Re: iron maiden Iron Maiden are amazing. They dropped off in the 90s when Bruce Dickenson left the band, but that's changed, and before that they were amazing. They are considered one of the three big formers of all Metal for a reason. I actually have a radio show now which takes its name from one of their songs (the show is Two Hours To Midnight [it comes on from 10pm-12pm] off of, of course, Two Minutes To Midnight), and we play at least one Iron Maiden song every show, and its always amazing.

Re: iron maiden Iron Maiden and Dragonforce have one major thing in common, in my opinion. They both are freaking amazing... for about two songs. Then it just gets annoying with the same melodies and chords over and over.

No, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and maybe Led Zeppelin would be far more influential in the begining.

Iron Maiden has quite a few awesome songs, and each member of the band contributes something amazing to everything they make; from Dickinson's voice to Steve Harris' bass playing to whoever the fuck plays guitar. Like it or not, Iron Maiden not only revolutionized metal at the time but even now they're doing kickass stuff. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1TOITfRl4E&fmt=18 ) They're hardly comparable to Dragonforce, who can't even play their songs at full speed and have to take breaks in their already short set to prevent themselves from dying from musical masturbation. I know I sound like your average internet fanboy but really, they need respect as a metal band. I don't even really like them that much, but I'll concede that they're amazing

Its actually a standard grouping of Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden among metalheads and metal "experts". Yea, I know their a bit later, but they were largely influential for much of what came after and in elevating it to a higher arena of skill and artistry. Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin are generally considered not Metal, but Hard Rock, possibly part of the transition to Metal, though this is debated at times.
