I've always had love for the Shadow Cat, Mad Dog/Vulture, Timber Wolf/Mad Cat, Grizzly, Gargoyle/Man o' War, and the Dire Wolf/Daishi.

Re: Favorite Battlemech Hmm I never liked those "hybrid" laser/ballistic/missile configurations I personally prefer from far racking up Energy weapons because I tend to fight long battles mostly by myself where munitions become a serious issue in the long run. With energy weapons you need to keep an eye for the heat but you can be out virtually indefinitely. Missiles especially run out way too fast. An exception though to the ballistic weaponry: Gauss rifles, if you stack up ammo those can last quite a while.
if a Nova Cat is unavailable, I'll still do better in an Uziel with 2 ER-PPCs than in an heavier model. Speed and maneuvers for defense and high-efficiency firepower for offense, in my opinion that's the best combination.
