America's "fall"
Do any of you seriously think that America is in a major decline? That it will collapse and a new super power will emerge? Please share your thoughts.

Re: America's "fall"
Obama is stripping us of our over seas power, specifically in Eastern Europe, as Russia rises and throws threats at us... I think Obama is fucking us over.

Re: America's "fall"
I don't think so. It'll take a lot more than that to start a decline

Re: America's "fall"
eh, we're going through problems but we've been through worse (i think).
think about it, LBJ didn't fuck shit up for us, and neither did FDR, so Obama probably won't either.
This is America god damn it. Even if were just a bunch of farmers with home made guns, we'd still make it (cause that's how we started off).

India and Brazil, aswell of course, China, are quickly growing and attracting bussinesses out of the US, and towards them, while their own GDP is growing. America's industry is in decline. Within the next 50 years it'd be lucky to be in the top 5 wealthiest nations.

Re: America's "fall"
The US is royally fucked. The US economy is screwed and not only that the US has pissed off so many people that sooner or later someone's going to take it over (or something)

Re: America's "fall"
Yeah... considering the U.S. Homeland Defense system (that includes Nuclear arms mind you), I don't see anyone "taking over".
If anything, it will just become like the old European powers and just quiet down.

Re: America's "fall"
Yes, the US is at a decline. However, we are still a very important part, if not the cornerstone, of the global economy. When we hit our recession the whole world felt it. Also, because so many economies are dependent on the US, it will take a long time for the US to grow out of importance. We're still one of the top dogs in the world, and if we decline, we drag a lot of countries with us.

Re: America's "fall"
Couldn't have put it better myself.
More importantly we've survived worse in the past. Such as the great depression. I'd say we have a looooong ways to go before we reach that kind of rock bottom again. Our country seems to have a way of getting back on its feet over and over and I'm sure we'll pull through this time as well.

Re: America's "fall"
not to get into any thing big. like some said. USA will never fall it may end up on a roller-coaster of the economy since like WW1 sometimes its really bad, really good, its just ok or w.e but the USA will never fall because it effects so many other countries so with USA going slow so do lots of other things.

Re: America's "fall"
The globalization of the economy (as shown in the current "economic crisis" to use the popular phrase) has ensured that if such a drastic change were to occur, it would not occur suddenly, but very very gradually. Although it is true that America's reputation has been sliding down ever since ... probably WWII, up until October 2008, America was still held in fairly high regard.
That, coupled with the world's eye on Obama (I have it from a friend that in New Zealand, the Obama campaign had more air time than the race for NZ Prime Minister), makes me think that this is not the time, yet, for a slide.
Also, people have brought up China-unless the Chinese government does something to address the thousands (probably more like millions, considering China's population) of people in severe poverty, I don't think they will gain enough ground to become *the* new power. Though it is undeniable that their influence, both political and economic, have grown over the years.
Meanwhile, North Korea is doing nothing for it's own good reputation right now. It's just asking for a war, one that it knows no one is willing to start in this time of "global economic crisis." That being said, from NK's point of view, it was the perfect time to declare such a thing (i.e. that they don't give a crap about what the UN or the rest of the world thinks about abandoning missile programs, etc.).

Re: America's "fall"
As you said there are MANY differences. One is technological advances, and another the type of Govt. we have. But I can't help but agree with you. Heck as if it matters cause according to Nostradamus we're fucked soon anyway.
