i don't exactly see how i've made any opinion my own... or why you assume i hide behind the words of others.

the fact is, video games, and whether they're good or not, all depends on the person himself. my input shouldn't have an affect on you... if it does, i'm flattered, but i don't really think it will.

often, when a large number of critics (in this case, all the major ones) have appraised something, it is often said at one time or another because it is a relevant piece of information on that subject. just on whether something wins an award or not, why would it be wrong to just state this fact?

Anyway, it has all that "Buy new weapons with more money next time around". But the real draw for me was that I could dismember people limb by limb. Of course, a sci-fi horror game is nice change of pace too... last one was what? Alien Vs Predetor 2? WHICH FUCKIN ROCKS BY THE WAY, I NEED A NEW COPY!

But yeah, it's a good rental. If it weren't so short, I'd probably say a buy.

yeah, i'm thinking of renting it. just rented Turok though (which the only part i really love is knifing dinosaurs and shit).

It looks cool, but the story doesn't seem special... the game seems like a combo between RE4 and Doom 3.

I find the arguments rather lulzy and the whole 'renting' on what?....a 20, if not, lower cost of an overall decent Sci-fi game? I suggest rent/buy, seeing as the price is so low, I don't see a problem in forking over a small bit of green for it. But the game "horror" doesn't really ring with it at all. Personally? It's more of a sci-fi, action shooter game that has a a huge creepy factor to it, seeing as most of the 'fear' you'll get out of it is JUMPSCARES FIESTA! It also has some decent challenges as well, along with a few easter eggs to bring some lulz out of you. Story is great, twisted, and dark which is what I exactly expected and loved from the game, the little video clips, text logs were also a nice tough as well.

The game has a nice replay value because of the fact it's impossible to use every weapon in the game and to max them out, so it's nice to come back to it with different customizations on weapons, modules, and tactics. HOWEVER, this game does have a few setbacks, aside from the derpy jumpscares.

-after playing DS2 (great fucking awesome orgasmic game btw), and thinking about the nostalgia of DS1, I quickly returned to it, only to be disgusted by how sluggish the controls feel and how slow Isaac responds to actions. That's probably just me, but still, keep that finger on that fucking trigger and another on that stasis...you're gonna be using that, a SHITLOAD of times.

other then that? Awesome game is Awesome. 8/10 for my '2 cents' on the game.

I only played Dead Space in an arcade. My thoughts so far? It's Half-Life and Resident Evil 4's baby boy.... IN SPACE. Add improved graphics and game engine, you've got yourselves a keeper.

The protagonist is silent, sparing EA the trouble of making an annoying protagonist. The weapon selection is simplified for instant action; 4 directions on the D-pad? That's 4 weapons he can carry on his person.

This game shines with the strategic dismemberment system. I particularly liked it. Add that to the fact that it's bridled to the HAVOK engine - meaning you can use an enemy's dismembered arm to beat him to death.

Let that sink in for a moment.

Winning Point #2: ”Strategic Dismemberment”.
Winning Point #3: Blood and gore…Blood and gore.


Annoyance.
Fail #1 Camera can become frustrating in zero-g areas
Fail #2 Inventory management can turn into a nightmare

All in all, a fun game you should buy or rent if you are in the mood for some B-movie immersion fun.
