Re: Favourite songs and bands/artists
Well, I like a shit load of bands and artists; but I managed to put together a current top 5:
1. Muse 2. System of a Down 3. Aesop Rock 4. Amanda Palmer 5. Combichrist
Now, I like most shit. I don't really like Screamo or pop-country, though. But practically everything else is okay in my book.
Melo-Death is alright if mixed with other stuff. I'm not really into In Flames or stuff like that. Metalcore is cool at first, but stuff like The Devil Wears Prada or As I Lay Dying gets on my nerves.
PKB: Job For a Cowboy is not Metalcore. It's Deathcore. Pop-Metal refers to the Glam-Metal bands, which SOAD is nothing like. they're an Alternative, Progressive Metal band with vocal symphonies. It would almost be a form of symphonic metal; but it's mainly, overall, an experimental metal band.

yeah... your claim really has no basis. it seems you just have some kind of non-focused bias towards them.
really dude, aren't you over 20? next thing you're gonna be doing is talking about how much Emo kids suck. OOOOO, big man.

Re: Favourite songs and bands/artists
you're complaining about catchy tunes and somehow trying to call it pop?
"LOL, people can easily get into it so that equates pop!"
you don't really seem to understand what pop is...
and I think the only song I occasionally hear on the radio (the rock station) is Toxicity.

Re: Favourite songs and bands/artists
well, preference is preference. His issue seems to reside more on how he's trying to label them a certain way because of some pre-conscience hostility towards a band like SOAD.
what he'll most likely do now is say something along the lines of "i don't have any hostility towards them, they're just a pop band for (insert a currently trendy teen group here)".
Either way, he doesn't really seem to understand SOAD's music (which is fine, I don't try to understand Screamo or Country) but he's trying to act like he does. Again, he will probably respond by saying "i'm not trying to act like I do, i'm just pointing out their obvious stuff".
Either way, this conversation will go nowhere. it's kind of sad when people get all hell bent over certain bands even though they're adults already.

Re: Favourite songs and bands/artists
might as well post 5 more: 6. Animosity 7. The Dresden Dolls 8. Anal Cunt (more because of the humor, but noisecore is still awesome) 9. Blink-182 10. Juno Reactor

Re: Favourite songs and bands/artists
I mostly like hip-hop, rock and punk, and i mostly listen to American, British bands, in other words the ones i can understand. Sometimes i listen to some German bands. Some of my best bands are Rancid, NoFX, Pennywsie, Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses, Queen, Def Leppard, Nightmare, The Rolling Stones, SOAD, Godsmack, Pasi( a very good croatian punk-rock band), Six pack, Rammstain and many others.
