Minevania: Tales of Revenge.
BGMIt was with my breath still rapid from exhaustion that I stepped out of the portal from the Netherworld. Despite the dire situation, I couldn't help but smile wrily. A Demon Overlord had attempted to assassinate me and take control of my Netherworld through the use of a Curse Slot, sealing away my powers. The seal did not work to its full potential immediately, because of my tremendous mana power, and I was able to fight off the Demon Overlord for a time, wounding him harshly even, but as the seal begun to take over, I was forced to recess into the depths of my castle's catacombs. I chased off my bloodthirsty pursuers through the maze and opened a portal to a random world. That way no matter how smart he was he couldn't guess where I went for there was no logic reasoning behind my destination whatsoever, hah sucka.
Upon
arriving on the other side of the portal, I quickly used the remainder of my power to "tame" the immediate area, the rough rocks and dirt looked much better and offered better protection once transformed into something more fit for a Demon of my own status.
I took a moment to calm my breath and acknowledge what I had brought with myself. It wasn't much, I didn't have much of any provisions or anything really. All that was available to me was the magnificent sword crafted in Diamonds and Obsidian I had been fighting with, a few roses as well as an assorted pickaxe and a few materials that were summoned when I used my powers. I stared at the portal for a moment; the other side of it was now closed, but I could re-open a portal to my Netherworld whenever I would fancy.
I stepped out of the room and observed further. The "main" room of my fortune lair was fit with a few crafting tables, furnaces, cauldrons and large chests. That would do for now as it covered the basics. A plain bedroom was also present on the other side.
Having still a bit of mana to use before the seal would devour it, I decided to offer myself a luxury. I first carved with my spirit a massive frame of Obsidian and filled it with blazing lava. How nice it would be to relax in it... once I would have recovered enough of my powers not to kill myself in the process... Damnit...
Silently, I cursed the bastard once more between my teeth, I would have revenge and I would make him suffer thousandfold, such was the rule of Demons for one who failed to kill the other Overlord.
Going back to the main area, I took another hallway that lead to an observation post which I would later observe to be half-concealed in the small mountain I had appeared in. A peaceful nightfall had veiled the surrounding area, I was feeling more comfortable already.
From the crystal windows, I could observe a small pond of water in my immediate proximity, a few trees and grass on the nearby shore and a think bamboo grove on the far shore.
This sight brought to light a few important questions. With the seal now in full effect, I could only rely on sheer combat skill and cunning to survive, for a time. Back then I didn't choose which world to go to in order to fool my pursuers, but now I started worrying about the locals of this one. In my weakened state I couldn't fight the chimeras I normally could, let alone overlords and divinities.
Walking away from the windows I examined the back door of the main room, which lead to a deep, hollow shaft
Unfortunately, a quick investigation in the depths proved that almost nothing useful was present to be harvested or otherwise. On the flip side, I didn't find a sleeping Wyrm, that's already one good new. I might try to see if knocking out stones here and there could lead me to another tunnels system, but for some reason my guts tell me there's nothing for mt there and I'm tempted to plain' close-off this area... What is this feeling... could this be what weaklings call fear? or is it simply that the place bores me. I couldn't tell for sure.
Endeavoring to scout my immediate surroundings, I left through the front door and was greeted by the sight of a large bridge.
Looking back, I noticed that the large bridge was looking satisfyingly, not very fancy but intimidating enough for the common humans not to dare cross it. Those pesky humans were such pests, but that was another story. For now I needed to make sure there was no immediate danger to myself.
(Inspired by Yom's other story.)
