Re: Lgallizeing weed
Well people could say it makes you paranoid but most humans are by nature to a certain extent so that reason isn't valid to me specially since some people who never taken drugs can be extremely paranoid all by theirself.

Re: Lgallizeing weed
Lol Necro. But I might as well.
Legalizing weed would be good if the Govt. does a tax on it a bit higher than that for cigarettes. They should legalize but not like you know advertise it on T.V. or Radio. And the Govt. should sell it themselves. IN BULK! AT ARMY SURPLUS!

Re: Lgallizeing weed
Well, obviously, I think we can all agree that the "war on drugs" fought mainly in the US is a huge fucking failure and was doomed from the start. Despite the prohibition era showing that prohibition of substances doesn't fucking work, we here in the good ol' US of A have a tendency to have as much hindsight as we do foresight when it comes to our legal policies (close to none). Since we have a "if it ain't broke, break it, if it is broke, fight anyone who's trying to fix it" cultural policy, a shit-ton of propaganda and general negative attitudes toward substances and the users thereof still exists despite information refuting common thoughts on the matter being everywhere.
Congratulations, it's 2012, the sum of mankind's knowledge is at your fingertips, and you're still an ignorant fuckwad.
The drug war (combined with the prison system in general) has led to us having some godawful amount of people in prison for petty charges, draining even more tax dollars, raising our national debt, etc. etc., tons of bad stuff that could have been avoided and could be mostly undone if we'd repeal our archaic drug policies, instate new ones, and give pardons to the people who are in prison for no good fucking reason. It wouldn't hurt if media companies would start embracing drugs as a thing that could boost profits instead of being all UPPITY and shit.
Personally I think the most realistic solutions to drugs would be: 1. legalization, 2. regulation, 3. taxation. The stigma against such substances would eventually fade if we just had some damned regulations about how they're grown, the condition of the products sold, and it'd probably get along better with most folks if there was some sort of age limit, let's go with the good ol' number of 18. Plus, the taxation on what would be entire sections of industry opened up to folks would help people more overall. And look at that! Less people in prison, less money spent on prison and police operations about this crap, more money from taxes, new industries and new possibilities opened up, and people get to buy things that make them feel good. God damn, that sounds nice. In my eyes it's not a matter of "if," but rather a matter of "when," but it's pretty fucking aggravating how slow progress is in this country.

Re: Lgallizeing weed
I'm stuck on whether to legalize it or not. For the consumer side, we have not getting arrested vs. taxation. Neither sounds appealing to me.
On the goverment side, Weed should be legalized no doubt. It should be controlled as a drug, so people won't get high before school or in the military, but otherwise it helps save money, will dull controversy and users, and lull the population into believing the goverment on things they want to put out there.

It should be controlled as a drug, so people won't get high before school or in the military, but otherwise it helps save money, will dull controversy and users, and lull the population into believing the goverment on things they want to put out there. What's so unappealing about taxation? Those tax dollars come back to us. Instead of that drug money circulating in some underground gangs, we'd be able to purchase our substance safely and get some benefits from the money as well. On top of that, purchases will be easier to document so that drug usage can be properly regulated. I'm not really fond of the idea of young children getting access to drugs. Nor am I fond of all of that goddamn violence. Off topic a bit, but with legalization it would be easier for people to get proper rehabilitation for hard drugs because they wouldn't be in fear of persecution on account of illegal drug usage and be given the proper help they need. I just spent a week in a psych ward which was full of delinquent teenagers. Several of them were secretly in drug usage and it was obvious they wanted help. However, they couldn't tell the officials and were in constant fear of getting jailed once they got out of the place. It took them several takes on the group discussions to ensure the counselors wouldn't tattle to even admit they did drugs. I was one of these people. There are a lot of us, the majority in fact, of drug users that know how to keep our usage under control. However, the minority that don't know how to are raised above the majority and given a bad image. If drug was legal, regulated and taxed that minority could easily be made even more of a minority and the people in said minority could be given proper help in a safe, stress free environment.
