Acquisition of concepts or learning is different from memorization. Memorization is the hard wiring of information acquired so that it becomes something automatically recalled. Hard wiring is a result of the repetition of information acquisition. Contrary to what AFH said, it is not another type of memorization. It is the process of transforming short term memories into long term ones, irregardless of the means used. It was more of an example that some people memorize information better depending on the means how it was shown to them, that's why some think that they are worse or better at memorizing. Its just that their brain assimilates information better or worse trough different senses or concepts of thinking depending on each indyvidual. If you suck at memorizing things you hear - you often find it way easier by looking at them or thinking about them etc.

Re: Hey Res! Wouldn't learning strategies be applied to concepts primarily? Its not so much a conscious effort to memorize something, but more based on how easily your brain makes connections and stores that information. At least from what I can see.
