Re: Yomuchan's thread
It has been 5 days since the attack, and the stench of decomposition has led several people to find the decayed, destroyed body of the man that attacked a loli. Rumors fly in the town - that diabolical cultists have appeared and are seeking blood sacrifices, that beasts from another plane of reality have found this world to be a hunting ground.
"No human could have done this!" "Look at the damage on the bones there. Nothing short of a mighty demon could have done that!"
The church has become a bit more livelier than usual, with people asking for guidance to save themselves from the 'evil' that had descended upon their town.
Yomuchan used this opportunity to proselytize his religion... subtly. He preached that the 'evil' were the antithesis of goodness, and that good deeds would hurt them on an existential level. He promoted charity to the orphans, kindness to children, and such. His preaching, followed by dire warnings that 'those who displayed wicked traits' would be 'seen' by the evil ones, and have their bodies desecrated and their souls bound to eternal servitude hit home, and the town once so known for mistreatment of children was on the fast track to becoming a haven for forsaken children.
The sun was setting when Yomuchan finished his patrol around the town and returned to the church to deposit his coat of office when the bishop approached him.
"Greetings, Brother Yomuchan" he said, smiling. "Done for the day?"
"Indeed. I'll just have a meal at the church's kitchen and go home."
"Actually, I've received a message from the bishop of the village of Drizzlewood. We need your help, Brother."
"Oh?"
"The cleric of the church was killed by a goblin raid, and we'd like it if you could go there and help the people there."
"Drizzlewood, eh? How much of a trip is it?"
"Half a day by cart, a full day by road, I'm afraid."
"Not a problem, but I'll need around 50gp for supplies... what say you?"

Re: Yomuchan's thread
The trip to the countryside starts off without incident. Yomuchan carries his few possessions in a simple backpack.
Two bags of trail rations serve as the food - the rest he'll have to make do with foraging in the wild. Mentally, he tallied his work done so far... 8 kills! He was definitely getting in with the Order.
Inventory: Bedroll 1 Silver Piece, 5 lb. Trail rations(2) 10 Silver Piece, 2 lb. Healer’s kit 50 Gold Piece, 1 lb. Torch 1 Copper Piece, 1 lb. Wooden Holy symbol, 1 Gold Piece. Waterskin 1 Gold Piece. 4 lb
Equipped: Weapon: Dagger. 2 gp , 1d3 , 1d4 , 19–20/×2 , 10 ft. 1 lb. (owned) Armor: Cleric’s vestments, 5 Gold Pieces, 6 lb (owned)
It'd be a shame to die and lose everything so far - but such was life; always with its rebirths and renewals. Smiling to himself, he left the city's boundary, returning a friendly wave from the gate guards.
It's a bit of a hike, but eventually, the buildings peter out and are replaced with trees. The wilderness! He felt right at home now...

Re: Yomuchan's thread
you do not have time to run up to the skeleton to save the girl you will have to channel your holy energy to force the vile undead back

Re: Yomuchan's thread
The skeleton was once a peaceful creature from a distant plane of existence spoken of in hushed whispers by secretive cults - the Peaceful Skeleton Realm. Its joints feebly glowed as a foul spell bound it to wicked deeds. Even now, it shuddered and quivered, fighting an ageless battle against the foul bonds it was yoked with, making its movements unsteady and making its bones tumble into each other.
Its aged bones bore the faded marks of spookiness on its animated body, and Yomuchan realized that to attack it directly would only mean that its soul would be returned to whatsoever foul being had bound it to slavery - to once again rise and bring harm to the innocent.
Thinking quickly, he remembered his cleric training and quickly equipped his holy symbol. Time to free the skeleton! He pointed it at the skeleton, and shouted at it to gain its attention.
"By never-fading light, striking through the chains of slavery - I command you...!" he yelled. "be unbound from thy bondage, and go freely to the realm you were born in!"
Concentrating, Yomuchan mentally prepares to blast the foul spell holding the skeleton prisoner in this realm.
Yomuchan rolls 1d12+2 = (13!)

Re: Yomuchan's thread
just as the skeleton is about to strike down the loli with its sword it is hit with the turning and turns and runs away
the loli walks up to you and says thank you so much mister.
"you must be an adventurer" she said "if your looking for an adventure there are some kobolds in the hills over there who have some healing supplies they stole from the gnomes you could go recover them and theres so few supplies there that theres no real point returning it to the gnomes but you could make use of it"
first however could you please help me get my kitty out of the tree it ran up there when the skeleton first attacked

Re: Yomuchan's thread
now remember when performing a skill check (in this case climbing a tree) you have 3 options roll the check take 10 take 20
if you roll the check you simply roll the dice and add your skill modifier to the roll and if you beat the dc you succed
taking 10 is like rolling but you get an automatic 10 as the amount rolled you can only do this when theres no pressure or danger and you can concentrate on the task
taking 20 is a little difrent you perform the action 20 times and on the 20th time you succeed (assuming a roll of 20 would allow you to succeed) bear in mind that this performs the action 20 times if there is a penalty for failure you will take it 19 times
this tree looks fairly easy to climb why dont you try taking 10

Re: Yomuchan's thread
Was that a smile of gratitude, flickering on that skeleton's wide grin as it fled?
-
With the threat gone, Yomuchan focuses his attention on the tree the little girl points out. And sure enough, he sees the cat up the tree.
Time for a li'l tree-climbing!
I roll 1d10+0(10)!

Re: Yomuchan's thread
you try to climb the tree but fail
taking 10 was not enough you now have 2 options
keep rolling untill you get a good enough result to climb the tree you may get climb it first try it may take you 50 rolls or take 20 which will guarantee you will get it on your 20th try

Re: Yomuchan's thread
Chuckling to himself, and earning a bashful smile from the loli, Yomuchan attempts to climb the tree again, rolling a 20.
