Chapter 7: Mountain of Mayhem!A new enemy emerges!?!
The mountain cave isn't as dark as I thought it'd be.
Epicarp: I won't be able to help much in battle... all I can do right now is flop around.
Yom: That's okay. Here's what we'll do: We'll keep you up front, so you'll get to absorb Awesome energy from the fight!
Epicarp: ... wouldn't that slow down you guys?
Turtlebro: Don't you worry. We're Team Yom, remember?
Wriggle: Heh heh, you'd better not hold back, got it?
Epicarp: I wont.
Epicarp: ... thank you... my true friends...
-
A few steps in, and an unusual hybrid pokemon attacks!
Paras appears to be a fungus-controlled forager insect. As planned, Epicarp goes first!
I'm about to send in Turtlebro, when Wriggle contacts me.
"Send me out! I'm immune to that thing's spores!"
Nodding, I send out Wriggle instead after Epicarp safely retreats.
The Paras attempted to attack the prone Epicarp, but Wriggle jumps in front, taking the attack!
Wriggle: Not so fast! I'll be your opponent!
Gritting its teeth, Wriggle bravely takes the killing blow intended for the helpless fish.
Wriggle: Hah. Like that'd stop me!
Wriggle's brave defense leaves the Paras unbalanced, exposing the strange fungus!
Wriggle used Tackle, targeting the strange fungus!
The powerful attack hits!
Wriggle's body smashes into the fungus, tearing it out of the Paras' body... along with some of its internal organs the fungal tendrils had wrapped around!!
The paras suddenly found itself unable to exchange oxygen with its internal organs, and it suffocated to death.
The gruesome finishing move was so awesome, that Epicarp, who was watching from the sidelines, gained a level!
Wriggle gains a level....
... and due to the sheer awesomeness, learns how to psychically overload enemies!
Wriggle: Told ya I had a plan.
-
We make our way deeper into the mountain...
Bloodsuckers? Hm, this will be interesting.
Not one step forwards, one attacks!
Wriggle: Its eyesight is near-nonexistent, so it has to depend on other senses to guide it. I can mess with its mind a lot easier! Shall I try?
I nod, and after I make sure Epicarp has retreated safely, I send out Wriggle.
The bat lunges at Wriggle!
However, it's bloodsucking attack hits the chitinous wings, and is deflected!
Wriggle: My turn.
Wriggle used Confusion!
Unable to make head or tail of its echolocation, the Zubat attacks a nearby stalactite! The solid stone shatters the Zubat's jaw!
Overcome with agony, the Zubat falls to the ground, breaking its left wing and mercifully, its neck.
-
We decide to explore the cave in full, so we start heading northwest.
Suspicious men, huh?
A short, easy fight against a weedle and kakuna, quickly dispatched by Turtlebro...
However, this way seems like a dead-end, but with an item ball on the floor.
Potion GET! If this cave is too much, this'll come in handy.
The bug catcher said something about Team Rocket. I'd have to look out for suspicious people...
There was a girl waiting at the signboard, so I walked up to her and tapped her shoulder to get her attention.
So you say...
You've got a skirt that's so short, it actually bends time and space. Now that, that I like.
A quick battle against a clefairy who hadn't quite learned how to sing yet...
Lass: I lost!?
Yeah, you wont be meeting your friends here....
... because you'll have to go to the pokemon center first. Shall I escort you?
Lass: ....Yes, please.
As I escort her out, she mentions that this place has rare fossils. I mentally make a note to myself to snag something good.
-
Heading north east this time, I find this.
Deep earth => Fossils are my thought. So I climb down the ladder...
It takes me to a small passageway, and finally ends in a deep underchamber.
Ah, so these must be the 'suspicious people'...
It's a fight! What'll happen next?!
Find out in the next episode of Pokemon Manly Blue!
"Team Rocket Attacks!"
