I'm familiar with child pornography laws and cases, the ones on Wikipedia for appetizers, and I'm inferring that someone thought it prudent to delete/ban lolicon in light of ever fluctuating state of lolicon legality.

I'll cut to this, as it's more in line with what I can explain regarding myself, and FH and how we worked.

In the FH debate on baning it, we never brought up moralistic reasoning. You are right, it is a victim less crime, despite any feelings I may have towards it. That said, under Bush's PROTECT act, it had now become a punishable crime. We did nothing when that rule came into effect (partially because we didn't hear about it, more importantly FH wasn't a thing in 2003), but we did once we heard of people being prosecuted. At that point, every mod was liable to some degree. More importantly in the debate, Klacid was liable, and the site itself in danger. When we saw people were now being prosecuted, and those prosecution standing despite retrials and such, that is what allowed that rule to come into power.

Now, we can never prove anything would have happened had we left it alone. We were a decently popular forum, but we weren't... what was big back then... Neopets or anything. However, we were a known(if shitty) hentai porn hub. Having lolicon all over our site left us open for possible prosecution. Which would of been the death of FH.

It's all fine to say we should stand up for whatever, but that wasn't a fight we were going to win if it came down to it. We liked our site, most of our regulars didn't care about loli, and would not be devastated by the ruling, unlike had the site been shut down(which, as time would show, was devastating to them, where loli removal was not).

I know the law more than well enough. I know What the 2003 PROTECT act did and did not do and more importantly I know that it died, I think months after it was "passed" (voted on and the vote "won") but then people like me fought and it was staved.

Ask Joshex if he was there on MSRUS when that came around and I fought off Surpass with a single email stating the matter clearly.

It was handled poorly, by people more scared to lose more ground than to fight to keep what was rightfully theirs. I'd call this weakness. Did it work?
