Anyone here ever read a book?
Well? Have you? A book? You know, the thing with lots of words not in a forum online?
We have a section vaguely about it!

Re: Anyone here ever read a book?
I have quite a few of them. <.< It's a pasttime that comes and goes. I'd say my favorite books would be the ones by David and Leigh Eddings. Although I read more than just fantasy. My most recent addition to the collection though is the first self-biography of John Cleese, So Anyways...... How about you nothin? Ever read a book?

Yea, I've read a book. And some other books too. I mean, we kinda had to read a lot of books for that English Lit major. And for all the other classes I guess. Just today I finished a book on my commute, Orthodoxy by G.K. Chesterton. With that done I guess I'll add another book to the rotation at some point, or finish off one of the other books I'm midway through reading (I frequently have a few books I'm reading at a time of various types). I don't actually read as much as I should though, or get through as many books as would be ideal (largely because I'm a pretty slow reader, even if I do like reading). I need to practice speed reading again. I guess I read a lot of children's books to the kids though.

Re: Anyone here ever read a book?
I once read a bunch, but then I stopped.
Now I just read on occasion. For instance, I recently bought Richard Dawkins' "The God Delusion" because people say every atheist and theist should give it a read. Being an agnostic atheist, I figured I would and so far it's okay, nothing really new has popped up.
I also read history books and books on warfare.

I also read history books and books on warfare. Interestingly, Chesterton was also an agnostic, and the book I just read by him is more or less his explanation of his process of coming out of agnosticism partially from reading agnostic writers (as he says a few times, he was convinced of several agnostic arguments for the position, on the vague level, until he got deeper into the actual arguments. That wasn't everything, but it was part of it, for him). Of course, he was referring to the agnostics and atheists of his time, which was several decades before our own, though his commentary on politics and society otherwise does make some parts seem not too far off from our own. I'm lead to believe the "new atheists" have a rather different angle than the 'old' (like the 'neo pagans' and the 'old/traditional pagans', and seemingly along similar lines) but I'm not sure where the cutoff is for either period.
