Because that isn't the slang, which once again is the vernacular being used. It isn't slang to describe something as "Lesbian". Why isn't it this way? I dunno, I didn't come up with the phrase. I'm not taking advantage of the masculinity of the word gay, that's just how it is: gay = homosexual = man/man OR woman/woman.
