signature images
Just a suggestion. Can you ask people to keep their signature's width a little bit under 1024?.
I dont think this is too much to ask, since most people use 1024 x 768. It's geting really annoying having to copy and paste long posts into wordpad just to read it in threads where someones signature has an obnoxiously huge width that it screws up the formating of the forum.

Re: signature images
I wouldn't mind that, but I think you'd have to make it more than just a little under 1024 if you want it to fit properly in a 1024x768 resolution. Depending on the theme the person's using too, I think the max width would need to be around 600-700 to fit without scrolling.

I think you have the width and height mixed up on 1024 x 768. 1024 is the width. 768 is the height. Say if a sig image is 1000, you wouldnt need to scroll to see the post (though you would for the extra crap on the right side of the screen) One thing that would fix the problem without limiting the sizes of the images in the signatures is change the code in the tables in the forums to keep their demensions (or have the code as a percentage so that they fit the resolution/window size of the user.) The reason this sort of stuff is happening is the huge images are breaking the tables, causing the tables to stretch to the size of the image.

Re: signature images
No, what she said would still apply. the signature space is not the full of either height or width of the screen. there are at least the poster info on the sides, and usually some other stuff like scroll on side of browser and such.

Re: signature images
I think you totally missed what I said about not allowing the tables in the forums to stretch with objects like pictures (or when people make a very long line without pressing the enter button).
It's pretty simple to do this. Klacid actually had phpbb set up to make the tables do that. If the pic was huge and you came in there on a PC with a low resolution the worst thing that could happen is you wouldnt see half of someones HUGE sig image.

I was keeping in mind the extra crap on each side of the post when I gave those dimensions, since it would make you scroll horizontally, and that's a pain in the ass. You also have to take into account again that depending on which theme you use, what information is on which side of the post is different (the dark theme has the user info on the right side). So yes, taking into account the extra crap is actually important in this case, and thus dimensions given needed to accommodate for that. And n0th1n seemed to have been addressing your point about my dimensions being wrong, which were taking into account the extra crap; that point and your suggestion of making it so the tables don't break because of images/text are two separate things and were addressed as such. And your suggestion is good, but would you like to offer more insight as to how Lime could implement that (if you know what the coding is, etc)?

And your suggestion is good, but would you like to offer more insight as to how Lime could implement that (if you know what the coding is, etc)? Well, all the table elements are written with tables. So I thought it wouldnt be hard to do what you do writing a HTML/PHP page and put a percentage or hard code a value (Since phpbb is basicly ready made HTML/PHP to make a forum. You have a lot of power to control how everything is setup. When I was making webpages and I stuck a image in one of my tables that was bigger than the tables settings, the part of the image bigger than the table, you couldnt see it outside of the table. For example the tables in this forum look sort of like this from the source of this topic: Code: <div id="pagecontent">
<table width="100%" cellspacing="1"> <tr> <td class="gensmall" width="100%" align="right" nowrap="nowrap"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left" valign="middle" nowrap="nowrap"> <a href="./posting.php?mode=post&f=30"><img src="./styles/subsilver2/imageset/en/button_topic_new.gif" alt="Post new topic" title="Post new topic" /></a> <a href="./posting.php?mode=reply&f=30&t=2035"><img src="./styles/subsilver2/imageset/en/button_topic_reply.gif" alt="Reply to topic" title="Reply to topic" /></a> </td> </tr> </table>
So I dunno. I'm having trouble explaining myself. If it's important to Lime to fix this issue I'll allow him to intrepet the code and see what he can do.

You all need to learn how to use the wheel on your mouse, alternatively, to buy a mouse that isn't over 10 years old.

Not all people have a 2x scroll wheel nor can they afford one. (Like me)

Re: signature images
I have a scroll wheel, though really, text being broken into one line going for pages horizontely for 5 pages is very hard to read. if it ever happens I just dont bother reading the text unless it's really important to me.
I solved the problem, I adblock HUGE signature images and any posts that I see with huge images I just ignore. Not all of us can afford 21" monitors nor have the space for them.

Re: signature images
adblock seemed to be the solution for this roughly 3 years ago, probably still a good solution. This can always be re brought up and possibly voted on.

We already have an image limiter in place, everythings fine
also, if you use the opera browser, theres a "fit to width" option built in, among other things
