Post Re: Dreams/aspirations
When I was young, I wished to be a Marine. I worked hard to get my weight up to 130, I worked hard to get more muscle mass... then I was told I couldn't join because of my criminal record.

SO PITTY MYSELF I DID!

Until an older dream resurfaced, and I looked into Zoology... to find out it required far more math than I could cope with!

SO OFF TO THE WORK FORCE I WENT!

WELL THAT FLOPPED WITH THE ECONOMY!

My seizure brought me outa college... so here I am... hoping to do something with photography.... but being realistic and knowing that will never happen.

So what I want outa life? Find someone, settle down, have steady work, and start a family. Sure, my offspring may very well be evil incarnated... BUT THIS IS WHAT I HOPE FOR!

End romanticism... here.

Post Re: Dreams/aspirations
I have lots of dreams. I used to want to be a famous artist, a singer, a model, a photographer...all kinds of stuff. Then I realized reality is harsh and I'm pretty much average in just about everything I do, so those dreams wouldn't come true. So I've developed more realistic dreams over the years. Definitely would love to get married and have children one day. Having a successful job that I enjoy (preferably along the lines of web design or anything to do with art and/or writing) would be nice too. I don't like the idea of being completely dependent on my spouse to the point where he has to pay for everything - I exist to help him, not leech off of him, and having a successful job would be good.

But right now, I'm pretty happy with what I have, since I feel like I'm well on my way to achieving my dreams for the future :).

Post Re: Dreams/aspirations
Long ago, I wanted very much to go to the Airforce Academy and become an officer. Pilot would have been more than a dream come true, but I aimed more realistically for Navigation or Engineering. I took many measures along this pursuit, got connections, everything. Then over the course of a year, the very year I would have started taking final steps, I changed. I decided instead to pursuit philosophy/theology and at the same time decided to be honest and became more openly a pacifist. The thing behind that was I had before determined that if I was ever ordered to bomb some civilians or help with that I would do everything to stop it, knowing I would very possibly (if not likely) be shot on the spot or at some point for it, or at least some other form of severe punishment. I decided it would be dishonest to enlist and take oaths saying I'd always follow command and such when I wasn't really going to, and, as I indicated, I became more of a pacifist as I took deeper consideration and studies of ethics, moral theology, systematic theology, and things like Just War Theory.

Now? Well, part of this is linked to something that has been in me for a long, long time, that I hadn't identified so well or sorted out from everything else. I now want to get my Doctorate in Systematic Theology, particularly focused in Trinitarian Theology and Christology (likely Crucifixion and Resurrection studies/Soteirology). From there I would like to do several things: Become a professor of theology, write some serious books on various theological topics and spread various things, and write some books in other areas like Fantasy and such.

And yes, I am on my way to all this. I'm not working on how I'll get in and pay for Grad school and I should be able to do it just fine.

Edit:
Also, yea, I would like very much to get married and have a good number of children, and try to raise them as best I can while learning there will only ever be so much I can do and they have to really decide and do some things on their own, just as I do.

Make use/worth out of life.
Find love (real kind none of that short last crap).
Happyness (most likely made by above 2).

Simple? Well they are the only oens worth mentioning.

I'm 16. I have dreams and aspirations like anyone else, but they change more often then the weather. I flip-flop between wanting to be a theoretical physicist to wanting to be a flower giving, tree hugging vagrant hippie in the blink of an eye; I think I just want to live. My goal is to live :)

I hear ya. It's like you want to do shit and yet laying on your back on a nice day staring at the sky while near enough falling asleep is good enough.

But you can do both those things at about the same time.

Also, when I was your age I was ready to set out and do it all. Inspired partially by my Godfather, who has been a Naval Captain (medical), Biologist, Ph.D and M.D., Carpenter, Coo-coo Clock repairer, gardener, national park ranger, deacon, husband father and grandfather, Insect collector/ studier (forget the term) and a billion other things. And he's a pretty nice guy too.

I remember you mentioning your godfather around Easter time; I missed meeting him 'cause I decided not to go to mass with you that one day. You never really said that he did all of that though...wow.

Well, I have my heart on being a computer service technician. Pathetic I know. But I'm good at fixing problems and dumbing things down for people. I want to do something I love. That's the only way I'll be happy since I am a epic failure in every other category. People have high esteem and expectations of me, though I know I'm not really anything special.

Mac isn't actually that big of a competitor anymore.

Apparently at their last (maybe not last anymore, I saw this a few months ago) big company conference thing, they noted as the two big competitors to windows: Pirated Windows and Linux-based OS.
