Re: Hypocrisy or just plain dumbfuckery
Well smoking harms more than just the smoker especially when done in public, as opposed to a fat whale eating shit tons of burgers only really affects said person. But it's not some stranger's place to tell you not to smoke, since they obviously know nothing about you. The way it sounds like they addressed you was pretty rude and dickass-ish.
In any case, not sure if that would really be considered hypocrisy, but it is plain dumbfuckery.
@Shocksock: smoking kills indirectly. Cigarettes contain carcinogens, which causes cancer, etc. You can get it from second-hand smoking too (being around a heavy smoker). It also damages your lungs pretty badly if you're a heavy smoker/around one. There's more, but you should look it up yourself as I'm too lazy to get sources for you right now. Here's one article though:
http://cancer.about.com/od/smokingandca ... ncancr.htm ...definitely not the best, but oh well. And yes, you can be killed directly if you forget to put out a light, but I'm pretty sure that's not as frequent of an occurrence.
