Post Unexpected reason for high prices of Organic Food

Too long; didn't watch?
Essentially, the costs are due to current demand being high in comparison to current supply, rather than because of higher production costs, etc.

Is the guy speaking bull shit? Well, maybe, this is a TEDx talk, after all, not even a TED. Still, pretty interesting, and I've heard more conservative cost/production analysis that have claimed gmo/standard farming practices only yield about 20% more output than organic methods.

Of course, it doesn't really go over the problem of what constitutes organic, as that's not entirely standard everywhere (though there are some "standards" now around).

So, what's the difference between TEDx and TED?

TED was the original conference that is done once a year and is moderated by whatever the overseeing group is for selecting presenters. It also tends to have more money and attract bigger people, and is typically more focused on Technology, Engineering and Design.

TEDx is a program they setup where pretty much any group can decide to host a TEDx conference and invite whoever they want to present. Some of them are still pretty big and attract decently major people and do a good job, some are a small random university (maybe) that has a random guy talk in a classroom. Essentially, the TEDx name doesn't carry the same standard as the TED name. That's not to say there isn't good TEDx content, it just perhaps like reading something published in a less prestigious journal or a blog or magazine or something.
